what is the reasoning for the increase in listeriosis in Scandinavia, as opposed to the United States…what about other regions of the world?

  2. Dr. Stephen Berger Says:

Possible explanations might include more efficient surveillance / reporting by Scandinavian countries, diet (high intake of fish in Scandinavia), ambient temperature which supports survival of Listeria in the environment. We do in fact have rates-per-year data for 165 countries (none published by region) in our database – so a detailed analysis by region might be too time-consuming. Let me know if you would like graphs for specific countries.
