Therapy - Overview

This module reviews the pharmacology and usage of anti-infective drugs, vaccines, and immune globulin preparations. The Therapy module presents important information concerning all drugs and vaccines used in treating and preventing infection.
The Therapy main window is divided into two columns. On the left are two tabs: Drugs and Vaccines.
Includes the following informational tabs:

- Mechanism of action.
- Typical adult dosage.
- Typical pediatric dosage.
- CSF penetration (inflamed meninges).
- Typical drug dosing for renal dysfunction.Dosage interval for creatinine clearance.
- Additional dose given following Hemodialysis.
- Dosage given during continuous peritoneal dialysis.

- Toxic Effects Lists toxic effects caused by a selected drug.
- Interactions Lists effects caused by interaction of other drugs with the selected drug.

Lists the proprietary (trade) names of the drugs.

Drug Spectrum Reviews the spectrum of a specific antimicrobial drug.
- Susceptibility Lists drugs having known in-vitro or clinical activity.
Include the following informational tabs:

- Mechanism of action.
- Typical adult dosage.
- Typical pediatric dosage.
- Subsequent booster.

- Toxic Effects Lists toxic effects caused by a selected vaccine.
- Contraindications Lists contraindications for the selected vaccine.

- Lists the proprietary (trade) names of the vaccines.
You must access the informational tabs in order to review the pharmacology and usage of anti-infective drugs, vaccines, and immune globulin preparations.
Under the tabs is the Custom Notes window. The user can enter notes that will be kept as part of the permanent record. The notes can be modified or deleted. In addition, they appear in the report, if one is generated. For Institutional users, these notes may be altered only by administrator.
