Diagnosis Why Not?
Occasionally the differential diagnosis list does not include a disease that you would have considered. The Why Not window, displayed below, lets you ask why a certain disease isn’t on the list.
Diagnosis Why Not accesses a list of all diseases included in GIDEON's database. The lower box is a list of positive and/or negative clinical findings that you entered, but were not compatible with the diagnosis indicated. GIDEON also indicates when the disease is not endemic to the country chosen. The Diagnosis Why Not window appears in two instances, if:
- Activated in Diagnosis Results by clicking
. - Selected symptoms for inclusion in Diagnosis Results do not fit diseases in the database. Removal of these incompatible data will result in the display of the compatible diseases on the differential diagnosis list.
Why Not comprises of the following elements:
- Diseases not shown in Diagnosis Results - lists diseases GIDEON determines do not meet the criteria specified in making a diagnosis.
- (The disease) did not appear because you marked: - After selecting a disease in the list, this window displays the criteria that eliminated the selected disease from consideration.
