Gradient maps

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

Maps in the Epidemiology module have been improved once again. For some diseases, reporting data are sufficiently accurate and comprehensive to allow for a more detailed map based on relative disease incidence from country to country. This provides for a great snapshot of the global status of theses diseases. See the Case of the Month: Getting the most out of maps.

Text search launches

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

GIDEON has always emphasized ease of use by allowing complete usage without any need for a keyboard by only using a mouse. Today we broke our rule to enable text search through GIDEON. As search has become more popular, it has become the user experience many people feel comfortable with when using the web.
Search will initially display results from our Epidemiology and Therapy modules and will extend to all content in GIDEON, including Diagnosis. See how easy it is to search with GIDEON.

Prevalence surveys in a standardized modular format

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Survey buttonIn recent months, we have collated all survey data for every individual disease country note into a standardized modular format. A unique listing will present all published surveys of disease prevalence, seropositivity data, parasite infestation rates, etc for … AIDS, Ascariasis … Hepatitis A, Hookworm … Lyme disease …. Visualize disease rates with Graphs

Tuesday, October 19th, 2004

One of the most powerful features in GIDEON are the graphs. They allow for both visually displaying the data available in GIDEON and for interactively creating an endless number of comparison graphs. They are available in 2 sections of the epidemiology module:

1. Country notes - There are over 20,000 graphs (with more than 300,000 data points) in the disease country notes, which follow the incidence, prevalence, death rates and many other parameters of every disease in GIDEON. Each incidence graph also displays the disease rate of the country based on the population that year.
See some examples in the description of the Graphs feature.

2. Graphs tab in Epidemiology. This is a module for selecting up to 6 datasets to compare the graphs of cases and rates of diseases from different countries.
See the Graphs on Graphs case of the month and video.
